It’s time to take advantage of the increase capacity to Cuba by major Canadian tour operators

December 8 - Now that Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, it’s time to take advantage of the increase capacity to Cuba by major Canadian tour operators.

December will see an increase in the number of flights to Cuba with the starting of Hola Sun/Caribe Sol operations using the new airline OWG on December 18th, which will see 2 weekly flights to Cayo Santa Maria from Toronto and Montreal.

Lessner Gomez, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board, explains that “these flights will be the firsts arriving in this destination since March; but more importantly they will provide airlift to clients going to other destinations such as: Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Zapata peninsula”.

Air Canada Vacations after successfully launching Cayo Coco and Varadero is expanding to Cayo Santa Maria as well with additional departures from Toronto and Montreal.

Likewise, December will mark the first flight from Sunwing and Transat to Varadero post Covid, with flights from Toronto and Montreal.

Another good news that Mr. Gomez is sharing with all the Canadian travel partners is the launching of FITCUBA 2021, which will be held in Varadero May 3rd to 8th next year; “those attending the Fair will see the numerous works aimed to improve all the services offered in this destination that were carried out during the paused of activities caused by Covid 19 pandemic; among them is the full renovation and upgrading of all the facilities at Plaza America, main headquarters of FitCuba, the opening of new restaurants and shops, more water sports and car rentals services, extension of the Wi-Fi connection to all the areas including the beach, the restoration of the iconic Xanadu mansion, Varadero Golf Club club house to its original splendour, and the inauguration of Varadero Boulevard with a wide range of services with a variety of restaurants, shops, Habanos House, arts and crafts plaza, etc.

“There is no doubt that with the good news about the vaccine rolling out soon and the increase capacity, the pristine Cuban beaches are closer than ever and waiting for you” he concludes."
