Paul Getty Museum, California

Visit California is preparing to host travel advisors with a roadshow across Western Canada in January.

The three-night, three-city event takes place in Calgary on January 16, Edmonton on January 17 and Vancouver on January18.

Attendees will have the opportunity to uncover the secrets and magic of the Golden State at this exclusive show. Plus, there will be ample opportunity for direct relationship building as 22 California destination partners will be set to share insider tips, agent incentives and travel advice.

There will be California-inspired food and drink, like Cali wine, inspired by various regions across the state. There will also be a chance to win California-themed prizes.

Of note from the Golden State, PST ART (formerly known as Getty PST) will be launching in Southern California in September 2024 and continuing for five months.

With a reputation as a vibrant cultural event, this region-wide initiative, which is the largest art project in the U.S., will feature over 60 exhibits from more than 800 artists. This new incarnation, known as ‘PST ART: Art & Science Collide,’ aims to appeal to enthusiasts of culture, education, science, community and the arts. Participating organizations from across Southern California include the Los Angeles Philharmonic, CalTechLive, Crenshaw Dairy Mart, LACMA’s Art + Technology Lab and the New Children’s Museum.

Artists will explore topics such as ancient cosmology, artificial intelligence, Indigenous science fiction and environmental justice. As the event is rooted in science, climate change is a major theme that emerged in the programming. Programming ranges from cutting-edge performing arts commissions to rocket launches, and from participatory art projects and action-centered discussions to a free outdoor art and science family festival.

The programming was announced in conjunction with a new round of Getty grants that bring the total price tag of Getty’s investment in 2024’s PST Art to US$19 million. Community is the driving force of the programming, hence all the grant money.
