Swoop Airlines is returning to Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport

April 26 - Swoop’s recovery efforts are well underway with its return to Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG).

The ultra-low-cost airline resumed service between Winnipeg and Hamilton’s John C. Munro International Airport (YHM) as well as Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) on April 25. Operations between Winnipeg and Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is set to begin in June.

We are thrilled to reaffirm our commitment to Manitoba through our return to Winnipeg,” said Shane Workman, Head of Flight Operations. “Our affordable fares are now available to those travelling for essential reasons and Swoop will be here to support the economic recover of the region and connect Manitobans to their family and friends when the time comes.

The Winnipeg-Kelowna route will be part of Swoop’s expanded summer schedule, which will also see new service to Victoria, a destination that had previously been postponed due to the pandemic. Victoria will now see an increase of flights and routes in three cities within British Columbia, as well as Toronto and Edmonton. Beginning June 20, 2021, service to Kelowna will be available from Hamilton and Winnipeg.

Our summer schedule expansion is in response to strong advance sales and in anticipation of demand from Canada’s most price-conscious travellers as they look towards the accelerated pace of vaccine rollouts across the country,” said Charles Duncan, President of Swoop. “When the time comes for a safe resumption of travel, it will be critical to ensure access to affordable travel exists within our borders and Swoop is strategically positioned to meet that need in British Columbia and across the country.
