St. Vincent and The Grenadines
Carlos James will make his first official visit as Minister from October 14 to 17th 2023

St. Vincent and the Grenadines' Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Hon. Carlos James will make his first official visit as Minister from October 14 to 17th 2023.

The Minister’s visit comes on the heels of the recent announcement by Sandals Resorts International of the opening of the brand’s eighteenth resort in the Caribbean at Buccament Bay, St. Vincent on March 27th, 2024. Minister James welcomed the news of this prestigious brand in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and anticipates increased visitors from an already significant Canadian market. "We welcome Sandals to our list of ultra luxury and exclusive offerings, and this will add significant value to our tourism product," Minister James said.

Canadians have shown great confidence in our destination, and this is evidenced by year over year increases in visitor arrivals from Canada,” said Minister James. “My visit here will give me better insight into how we can improve our offerings, following meetings with various players in the travel trade and media and airline officials.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is on the cusp of an exciting 2024. In addition to the 300-room Sandals property, a 93-room Holiday Inn Express is scheduled to also open in the coming year just in time for the announcement that St. Vincent and the Grenadines will host five matches of the International Cricket Council (ICC) championship in June 2024.

Minister James said, “St. Vincent and the Grenadines, known for its high-end exclusive luxury offerings on the Grenadine islands of Mustique and Canouan, is now opening its mainland, St. Vincent, as a major tourism hub.

The SVG Tourism Minister will be attending the first of four Road Show events in Canada’s capital city Ottawa, hosted by the SVG Tourism Office here in Canada. He will meet travel advisors at a special event and update them on his country’s plans for tourism moving forward. He will also meet the Travel and Diaspora media in Toronto that week to discuss various matters of interest to the Canadian market.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a multi-island destination with 32 islands and cays providing the ultimate luxury offerings of Mustique, Mandarin Oriental, and Soho House in Canouan among a string of boutique hotels and resorts such as Young Island Resort, Petit St. Vincent Resort and Palm Island Resort. Countless possibilities exist for visitors to SVG because of its diversity. Sublime diving both on mainland St.Vincent and in the Grenadines, unsurpassed sailing and yachting throughout turquoise waters, various eco adventures and varied romantic secluded locations to get married and honeymoon.
