The state is prepared for the arrival of 1.8 million tourists which are expected to generate around $1.7 billion USD

Quintana Roo remains among the main preferred destinations for visitors, reports the Secretary of State Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra. He says the state is prepared for the arrival of 1.8 million visitors during the summer vacation period of 2023.

Riestra says that when projecting the 2023 holiday period, the state is prepared for the arrival of 1.8 million tourists which are expected to generate around $1.7 billion USD.

The tourist figures are 4.4 percent higher than last year. Riestra says this growth in tourists is the result of promotion by the state government to work at ground level to ensure that a greater number of visitors reach state destinations.

He explained that all the destinations in Quintana Roo have experienced significant increases compared to last year, especially in Bacalar with a projection of almost 20 percent growth for this season.

He says from January to April of this year, the states archaeological zones have registered a tourist increase of 32.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

In addition, the arrival of 19 cruise ships in the week of the 17th to the 23rd of July in the ports of Cozumel is added, according to information from the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo).

This demonstrates the attractiveness of our beautiful state and the preference of visitors to explore its natural wonders, in addition to the archaeological zones,” he stated.

Last week, state officials waved the flag marking the start of the 2023 summer holiday vacation period in Cancun.
