Visitors no longer required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Fiji

Fiji has announced the removal of its COVID-19 testing requirement for all international visitors.

As of September 5, 2022, visitors are no longer required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Fiji.

In addition, no test results or proof of test bookings will be required to board flights to Fiji, and the Entry Test Fiji portal used to pre-book tests will be discontinued.

However, COVID-19 testing will still be required for anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms, which individuals arriving in Fiji will be asked to self-report on an immigration arrival card. Plus, the requirements of being fully vaccinated and purchasing travel insurance still remain until further notice.

According to Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, the country’s high levels of community-wide vaccine protection, expansion in vaccination coverage to children, the increasing uptake of booster doses and the lessening caseload has allowed the government to continue relaxing public health measures.

Although visitors are no longer required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result to enter the country, Fiji still recommends that they test at home prior to arrival, especially if exhibiting symptoms.

Currently, visitors to Fiji must take a pre-booked RAT (rapid antigen test) a few days after their arrival as part of Fiji’s entry protocols. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 are required to self-isolate at their hotel for five days, down from seven. Hill added that reducing the isolation period to five days is expected to greatly assist Fiji’s tourism industry. With hotels reporting occupancy at pre-COVID levels, they will now be able to free up inventory saved for isolation and allow even more bookings, he said.

Fiji’s COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce will continue to review Fiji’s entry requirements and COVID-19 safe measures. For more information visit fiji.travel/faq.
