AmaWaterways has announced the addition of two new river ships to its fleet.

Launching in 2026, AmaKaia will join AmaDara on the Mekong River, while AmaSofia will sail Europe’s Rhine and Danube Rivers.

With an expected launch date of May 24, 2026, AmaSofia will be the cruise line’s 24th ship to sail in Europe. Its inaugural 14-night itinerary, ‘Magnificent Europe,’ will journey between Amsterdam and Budapest, sail a total of three rivers through four countries, and include highlights like guided bike rides, tours of castles and palaces, a visit to a pretzel bakery as well as culinary tours. The custom-designed AmaSofia will have 31 departures in 2026 featuring multiple itineraries on the Danube, including ‘Melodies of the Danube,’ ‘Romantic Danube’ and the popular ‘Christmas Markets on the Danube.’

AmaKaia will offer 22 sailings in 2026, its first departing Aug. 3, 2026, and upwards of 38 in 2027. The first two 7-night itineraries, ‘Charms of the Mekong’ and ‘Riches of the Mekong’ explore the ancient cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia while enjoying regional delicacies, a wide range of daily included excursions, local onboard entertainment and luxury amenities. Highlights include traditional ‘xe-loi’ (trishaw) rides, visits to local workshops and monasteries and a Buddhist Blessing Ceremony. Land extensions are available in several cities including Siem Reap, home of the world’s largest religious structure, Angkor Wat.

Cruising with AmaWaterways include fine dining in multiple venues, including The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, daily Sip & Sail cocktail hour, a daily variety of small group excursions like hiking, biking and special interest tours, Wi-Fi, a wellness program with host-led fitness classes, airport transfers and more.
